までステージの上にいた人にみえない。私を含め5人は6月半ばまで一緒にヨーロッパをツアーします。この時リーダーのグレゴリー・ポーター（vo）はまだ

They,
Greg Porter's sidemen are chilin in front of the famous big theatre in
Paris “La Cigalle”. They don't seem like they were on the stage a short
time ago. 5 band members inclued me are together until the middle of
June touring Europe. At this time the band leader Greg Porter(vo) was
still working. From left Aaron James(b), Emmanuel Harrold(ds), and Chip
Crawford(p).

日本からニューヨークへ帰ってきました。が、29日にはまたグレッグ・ポーター（vo）のヨーロッパツアーへ向け
て出発します。

I came back to NY, gotta leave here on 29th toward Europe tour with
Greg Porter(vo) though.

サン・ディエゴのコロナド島に宿泊し、朝方にホテルから撮った写真。この時はまだ2月でしたが、お昼時にはプールで泳いでいる人さ
えいました。やしの木の向こうにはサン・ディエゴ市街と島を結ぶスカイラインが見えていますが、わかりますか？本当に美しい街でした。

I
got an accomodation at Coronad Island in San Diego City and took a
picture from the window of the Hotel in early morning. There were
swimmers in the pool even though it was still February. Over palm trees
we can see skyline connecting San Diego City and Coronado Island, do
you c that? It was such a beautiful city that I didn't wanna leave
there.

スアンゼルスの素敵なジャズクラブ、カタリーナでの演奏の一こま。今年度のグラミーにノミネートされた歌手のグレゴリー・ポーターと。つい先日、彼ととも
にマンハッタンのジャズクラブ、スモークで演奏したときに、彼は自分のオリジナル曲“Wisdom”の演奏を、あの地震の被害と戦っている日本の人たちに
捧げるというコメントをしていました。ＮＹの多くの友人たちが日本のことを気遣ってくれています。

A snapshot at the gorgeous jazz club“Catalina”,
with vocalist Gregory Porter who was nominated Grammy award of this
year. Recently He mentioned to dedicate our performing of his original
tune“Wisdom” at Manhattan jazzclub Smoke to Japanese people who is
standing againt the earthquake. Most of my friends consider about Japan.

日、西海岸のサンディエゴにあるサンディエゴ大学にて、セミナーを行いました。写真はその時にみなでセッションしたときの様子。みな優秀なミュージシャン
で、サックスプレーヤーが沢山いました。多くの学生さんたちに混じって、私の姿も、そして素晴らしいミュージシャンであり教師であり、今回のセミナーを企
画してくれたカマウ・ケンヤッタさん（ss）の姿も見えます。

had a opporthnity to have a seminor at the University of San Diego
locates at San Diego city CA, west coast. This picture was taken when
we were jammin. Every students were really cool and there were a bunch
of sax players. Among them you can find me and Mr. Kamau Kenyatta(ss),
great musician, teacher who organized this seminor.

日本ツアーを終え、またニューヨークに帰ってきました。楽しい思い出がたくさんできました。写真は関内ホールでの演奏のあと散歩した横浜みなとみらいの夜
景です。こんなにきれいなのに、人が全然いたくて、なんだかもったいなくさえ感じてしまいました。
日本の音楽もすばらしいです。こんなところで音楽が流れていたらいいのにな。

Finished
Japan tour, I came back to NY with a lot of unforgettable memories.
This is a picture of night view at Yokohama Minato Mirai, where i took
a walk after the gig at Kannai Hall. Although it's this
beautiful, There were strangely no people. I even felt like it's
wasteful.
I wish there were music. Music in Japan is great as well.

園や地下鉄の構内で演奏することがあります。時にはひとりで。写真はよく私が演奏しているところ。アップタウンウェストにあるアメリカ自然博物館の建物の
前の、ちょっとした円形のくぼみになったところです。道行く人がドネイションしてくれたり、暑いときには冷たいミネラルウォーターを差し入れしてくれたり
する人もいて。
ひとりで演奏のもまたエキサイティングなものです。

I
sometimes play in the park, or premise of the subway station. Sometimes
I play by myself. This is a picture of the place I like to do it. It's
in front of the American museum of natural history located in Uptown
west, the circular dent of it's fense. Passengers
sometimes donate, sometimes give me a cold water when it's hot.
Playing only by myself is pretty exciting as much as
group performance is.

ニューヨークの人間のセレクションは全く多岐にわたっています。日本人と比較すると、彼らのほとんどはお祭り好き、買い物好き、遊
び好き、ぶらつくのが好きといえると思われます。
写
真はハーレム125丁目のハドソンリバー沿いの公園の風景です。ニューヨークの自然派ご用達のオーガニックフードを扱うスーパーマーケット、フェアウェイ
の近くにあります。この日はハドソンリバーカフェにて演奏した後、少し散歩しました。このようにいたるところにアートが溢れているのも彼らの文化を感じさ
せます。

The variety of
the character of people are huge at NY. Compared to the Japanese, I
colud say that they like to have a wild time, do shopping, play and
hang out.
This picture is a scenery of the park along
Hudson river lies around 125th street, near the Fairway market which
supplies organic foods for the NY naturalist. On that day I was
strolling in this park after the branch gig at Hudson River Cafe.
Like this way, there are a lot of art crafts by th roadside,
which gives me a impression of their culture.

水はいい。見ているだけで、または近くにいるだけで不思議と心が落ち着くものです。幸いなことにニューヨークには水にちなんだ憩い
の場所が近くにたくさんあります。そういう意味でも、ニューヨークは私が住んでいた北海道の札幌に似ている気がします。
写真はセントラルパークにある大きな池にて。かつてはマンハッタンの貯水池として利用されていたようです。

The water is
good. Just looking at it, or even just being near it, I feel like I am
calmed down voluntary. Fortunately we have alot of oasis around us in
NY. In this sense, I think there is a resemlance between NY and
Sapporo, Hokkaido where I used to live.
This is a picture of the big pond in Central park. It
used to be a reservoir of Manhattan.

月になっていました。日本を離れて2年以上が経ちました。友達の海野くん夫妻はほぼ同じ時期にNYに来ましたが、彼らと話していて、この2年間は短かった
ような、長かったような。少なくともサックスを始めた頃は、自分が外国に住むとは思っていませんでした。人間も自然の一部、天気のように刻々と変わってい
きます。

It's August now. It's been 2 years since I left Japan. The
other day I was talking with my friends Mr. & Mrs Unno who come to
NY at the same time as me, we all was feeling that in some sense these
2 years were pretty long but also was short in other aspects. This much
I knew that I didn't expect to live in abroad when I began to play
sax.. Human beings are part of the nature, Which means we are changing
like weather as time goes by.
